WORKSHOP: Innovative Proposals and Solutions in Aquaculture
WORKSHOP: Innovative Proposals and Solutions in Aquaculture
Venue: ATHENA RC, Maroussi
Date: 9th of February 2018
ATHENA RC, 9.2.2018
Aquaculture is the world's fastest-growing feed production sector, with a constant and rapid increase in world production. However, the field operated by aquaculture enterprises is intensive and highly competitive, with limited profit margins. All aquaculture producers have to face specific challenges in improving the performance of their respective companies in terms of costs, feed conversion, growth rates and mortality. At the same time, their decisions must be sustainable and environmental friendly.
Aquaculture production is complexed, influenced by numerous interrelated factors that involve the environment, production management practices, nutrition strategies and the day-to-day operation of farms. Utilizing BlueBRIDGE (HORIZON 2020) services provided in the Blue Economy pillar, marine farmers can assess the performance of their production by employing mechanical learning methods based on actual historical production data. Additionally, they are able to produce accurate production plans and techno-economic analyses, combining productive, economic and environmental data which result in sound and timely decisions to strengthen their aquaculture position over their competitors.
Current progress within the BlueBRIDGE project, and general innovative developments, will be presented in a specifically designed workshop.
