Dr. Sushanta Mahapatra completed his Ph.D degree in Economics from a premier Indian Council of Social Science Research Institute, Madras Institute of Development Studies through the University of Madras, Chennai. He has completed the Post- doctoral research of prestigious European Commission Post-Doctoral Scholarship Erasmus Mundus India4EU II Programme at the Department of Economics Science in the University of Bologna, Italy. Dr. Mahapatra is currently working as Professor in Economics and Sustainable development at Amrita MBA Program, Amrita University, Kochi, India and teaches in Master and Doctoral Programme, guides PhD scholars and undertake funded research project. Prior to joining Amrita, he has worked in NABARD-BIRD as Senior Researcher at the Center for Micro Finance and subsequently at Center for Insurance and Risk Management at Institute for Financial Management and Research, Chennai. He has collaborated in research projects supported by organizations like ILO Geneva, CARE Foundation, Harvard School of Public Health, RSBY, SRTT, Ministry of Rural Development Govt of India, SBI and NABARD. He has also previously worked as a Senior Scientist within a multi-disciplinary team at JRD Tata Ecotechnology Centre, M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation, Chennai. He has published his research ideas in Books, journals, edited volumes, conference proceedings and working papers. Besides, he has presented several papers in International and National level seminars and acted as reviewer for several journals. He is the recipient of prestigious Malcolm Elizabeth Adiseshiah Doctoral Merit Fellowship from Madras Institute of Development Studies, Chennai.
