International recognition of Prof. Anastasios Xepapadeas' contribution to Science

We are thrilled to communicate this amazing news for our colleague Prof. Anastasios Xepapadeas, who was elected Foreign Associate of the National Academy of Sciences of the USA on May 1st 2018.

Prof. Xepapadeas is currently Professor of economic theory and policy at the Department of International and European Economic Studies of Athens University of Economics and Business and the Department of Economics of the University of Bologna (part time with parallel affiliation) and an ICRE8 associate. He has served as Dean of the School of Economic Sciences of Athens University of Economics and Business and as Chair of the Department of International and European Economic Studies at the same University. He is past president of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economics and past Chair of the Board of Directors of the Beijer Institute of Ecological Economics of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. He was editor of Environment and Development Economics from 2005-2014 and is now a member of the editorial board.

This is a huge honor for Greek Academia, and especially for the field of Environmental and Resource Economics.

The National Academy of Sciences is a private, nonprofit institution that was established under a congressional charter signed by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863. It recognizes achievement in science by election to membership, and — with the National Academy of Engineering and the National Academy of Medicine — provides science, engineering, and health policy advice to the federal government and other organizations.
