Scientific officer at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission. He conducts research on renewable energy technologies (RETs) deployment in Europe and Africa. Currently he participates on research promoting EC policies toward sustainable development in rural Africa as well as the inter-relation of the environment-renewable energies and the economy in sub-Saharan Africa. He holds a PhD on water engineering and management and his research interests span a variety of topics including hydroelectric energy, hybrid RET systems, water resources management, hydrological processes and flood risk management.
